SUBJECT:
Legislative Hearing - Ordinance 26-015 Modifying the method of appointment of members to the Board of Examiners of Contractors. FIRST READING
SUMMARY:
Tthe City adopted Ordinance 25-018 in July, 2025 which provided for individual appointments of Board members by the Mayor and City Commission to serve concurrently with the term of the appointing official; and the City of Fort Pierce has determined that, because members of the Board of Examiners of Contractors are required to represent specific industry sectors, individual appointments made by the Mayor and Commissioners are not an effective method for filling these positions. This ordinance reverts back to the prior way of making appointments.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Ordinance.
ALTERNATIVES:
Adopt with modifications.
