SUBJECT:

Public Hearing and Approval of Resolution 26-R60 the City of Fort Pierce adopting a revised 2024-2027 Local Housing Assistance Program.

SUMMARY:

The City of Fort Pierce — Grants Division seeks to amend the current Local Housing Assistance Program (LHAP) Report. 

The original 2024–2027 Local Housing Assistance Plan was adopted in May 2024. Senate Bill 594, effective July 1, 2026, requires amendments to Local Housing Assistance Plans to include additional manufactured housing strategies. The proposed amendment incorporates these statutory requirements, including: Relocation assistance for owners and tenants displaced by the closure of a mobile home park. Lot rent assistance for manufactured housing owners for up to six months. Rehabilitation and emergency repairs for manufactured housing. Removal of the previous SHIP 20 percent funding cap on manufactured housing.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of Resolution 26-R60 adopting the 2024-2027 Local Housing Assistance Program (LHAP) and authorizing its submission to Florida Housing Corporation for the State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP).

ALTERNATIVES:

Staff shall proceed as directed by commission.
