SUBJECT:
Ordinance No. 14-014 Creating Article VI - Florida Friendly Fertilizer Use SECOND READING
SUMMARY:
To follow up on Commission consensus on the proposed passage of an ordinance requiring the use of Florida-Friendly fertilizer. This ordinance addresses timing of fertilizer application, fertilizer free zones, low maintenance zones, application rates, training and public education. Due to the City of Fort Pierce draining storm water into the impaired waters of the Indian River Lagoon, the City is mandated to enact some form of fertilizer ordinance. This ordinance is proposed to be adopted in conjunction with area municipalities in an effort to protect and preserve our local waterways, particularly the Indian River Lagoon.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Ordinance No. 14-014
