SUBJECT:

Accept Bid No. 2016-033 for Chiller Replacement Sunrise Theatre to Gibson Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, LLC in the amount of $96,285.

SUMMARY:

Since reopening in 2006, the Sunrise Theatre has the two original chillers for the facility. During the past year, Chiller #1 has been operating at 50 percent or less capacity.  Not only does this create a temperature problem for patrons, but the extra operational demand on Chiller #2 is compromised by this situation.  As a result, the equipment is not operating at full capacity and has consistent maintenance issues. Current circumstances also require both chillers to run almost constantly.  Replacing Chiller #1 would allow a return to almost normal operation with only one operating  resulting in an energy savings.

RECOMMENDATION:


Accept Request for Chiller Replacement/Bid No. 2016-033 Gibson Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, LLC in the amount of $96,285.

ALTERNATIVES:

Seek additional bids to complete the chiller replacement task.

OTHER INFORMATION:

A new Restoration Service fee of $3.00 per ticket has been implemented this fiscal year to provide funding for the new chiller and any other capital expenditures at the Sunrise Theatre.
