SUBJECT:
Request from the Roundtable of St. Lucie County for $12,000 for the funding of the Kids at Hope Mentorship Program & Preventing Crime in the Black Community National Conference Proposal.
SUMMARY:
The proposal's estimated budget of $34,709.00 includes the cost of taking 50 youth and 11 adult chaperones to the National Conference on Preventing Crime in the Black Community June 1-2, 2017 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida, and post conference youth activities. The funds requested will cover the cost of 20 hotel rooms for 3 nights, a shuttle bus and partial funding of post conference youth activities.
RECOMMENDATION:
Due to the positive impact on the youths who have attended this conference previously, staff recommends approval.
ALTERNATIVES:
Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.
