SUBJECT:
Approval to submit and accept the 2017 Bulletproof Vest Program grant in an amount not to exceed $45,000.
SUMMARY:
The Police Department requests approval to submit for and accept the 2017 BVP program grant in an amount not to exceed $45,000. This grant will allow the Police Department to provided new bulletproof vests to any officers that have outdated units, as well as allow the department to properly equip its new officers.
Consistent with the budgeting done for all of the previous BPV program awards, the Department of Justice will award funding to cover 50% of the cost of the grant, and will require the approval of a 50% match from general funds.

RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation is that this request be approved.
