- FY 2014 Law Enforcement Trust Fund Contribution
SUBJECT:
Request approval for a contribution of $500 to the Parent Academy of St. Lucie County from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
SUMMARY:
According to Florida Statute 932.7055, the police department is required to spend 15% of Law Enforcement Trust Fund revenue from forfeitures and seizures each year in support of crime prevention activities. This donation will support the Parent Academy of St. Lucie County Empowering Parents for the Annual Breakfast Sponsorship. Their mission is to "strengthen our community by providing St. Lucie County parents information about, and access to, the resources and opportunities available to them." The requested contribution will be applied to meeting the statutory obligation for FY2014 and will provide meaningful support to community based activities. This expenditure meets the requirements of Florida's Statute 932.7055.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the contribution request.
