Contract extension for Traffic Signal Maitenance Contract to Carr Construction

SUBJECT:

Approval to extend City's Traffic Signal Maintenance contract to Carr Construction through end of F/Y 2018 in the amount of $118,930.

SUMMARY:

Carr Construction's Contract expired in February 2018. Engineering is currently rewriting requirements and specifications for the Signal Maintenance RFP. Engineering is completing a rewrite of the Traffic Signal Maintenance contract to incorporate new FDOT requirements and additional specifications. Additional specifications are needed to cover new equipment and software being installed by FDOT on the US 1 Project to be completed in July. The RFP will be advertised in the next 30 days and the City should be able to award a new contract by the beginning of August.

Approval

ALTERNATIVES:

Seek a temporary maintenance contractor and negotiate terms until the City awards another signal maintenance contract through the RFP process.

Carr Construction will utilize current contract fees. These are budgeted annual expenses for the operation and maintenance of the City's traffic system.
