SUMMARY:

The FPPD would like approval to submit for and accept the 2018-2019 VOCA grant award. The VOCA program is a victim's advocacy program the FPPD has executed over the past several years.  An employee is assigned to respond to victims of all types, provide assistance to the victim(s), and take steps to assure prosecution.  This years applications request an additional victim's advocate that would allow the FPPD to expand its Victims Advocacy services.  The FPPD is seeking approval to apply for an award not to exceed $75,000.

RECOMMENDATION:

The recommendation is approval be given for this submission and award acceptance. If denied, please provide guidance to achieve  expanded Victim Advocate services.

ALTERNATIVES:

Approval could be declined and directives given as to how the FPPD could go about securing funding for the two positions from other sources.
