SUBJECT:

Resolution No.19-R16 and Quasi-Judicial Hearing – A hearing to allow the owners and/or parties of interest in the property identified as 608 S 6th Street to show cause why the structure located on the premises should not be condemned and demolished.

SUMMARY:

  • Code Enforcement action initiated in 2009 for a vacant structure. Lien for non-compliance filed in 2010.
  • Code Enforcement action initiated in 2012 for roof damage. Lien for non-compliance filed in 2013 and continues to accrue.
  • Code Enforcement action initiated in 2017 due to roof collapse following Hurricane Irma.
  • Due to no action taken by the owner, condemnation of the property initiated September 6, 2018.
  • Due to no action taken by the owner, the request for demolition is brought before the City Commission.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Commission approve Resolution No. 19-R16 declaring that the structure located at 608 S 6th Street be condemned and demolished in accordance with the Rules of Procedure for Condemnation and Demolition as adopted by the City Commission.
