SUBJECT:
Approve award of the Ohio Avenue Roadway Improvements construction contract to the low bidder, C.W.Roberts Contracting, Inc. (FKA as Lynch Paving and Construction Co., Inc.), in an amount not to exceed $1,015,147.20
SUMMARY:
This roadway reconstruction project was advertised for bids on two seperate ocassions. The first bid opening had one responder with a bid exceeding the City's construction budget. The second bid opening saw two responders both of which provided bids greater than the project's available funding. The construction venture was put on hold while a request for additional funds was reviewed and approved by FDOT and a subsequent amendment to the existing Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) was created and approved by the City and the State.
The proposed construction work includes shifting Ohio Avenue roadway, east of US Highway 1, to the north in order to better align with the western leg of Ohio Avenue. Improvements include the installation of three (3) mast arms, associated signalization equipment, and the complete reconstruction between US Highway 1 and South 3rd Street to provide a boulevard style roadway complete with drainage facilities, curb & gutter, sidewalks, landscape, and irrigation. The bid has been reviewed and approved by FDOT.
