SUBJECT:
Resolution 19-R19 approving contract agreement between Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Fort Pierce for the construction of a concrete trail, as a segment of the Florida SUN Trail, through the Indian Hills Recreation Area.
SUMMARY:
This agreement and supporting resolution, is for the construction of a concrete path through the Indian Hills Recreation Area to ultimately be part of the East Coast Greenways Trail system. The agreement is a result of a grant application made by St. Lucie County and funded 100% by FDOT through the Shared-Use Nonmotorized Trail (SUN Trail). Construction will provide a 12' wide concrete path from Indian Hills Drive on the north end to the FEC spur track south of Savannah Road. The length of the proposed section is 4,450 feet.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend acceptance of the grant agreement and approval of the supporting resolution.
ALTERNATIVES:
Reject acceptance and leave the trail unpaved.
