SUBJECT:
Approve amendments to the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Fort Pierce and St. Lucie County regarding the continued operations of the animal shelter located at 100 Savannah Road.
SUMMARY:
The following amendments have been reviewed and approved by both the City of Fort Pierce and St. Lucie County:
- Reduce the term of the Interlocal from twenty (20) years with an automatic ten (10) year renewal to two (2) years with five (5) automatic two (2) year renewals.
- Reduce the termination clause from two (2) years to six (6) months.
- Amend the requirement for a joint agreement with an operator to two separate agreements that contain the same terms with minor exceptions.
- Provide for future operations of the shelter jointly, with both jursidictions participating, in the event that the contract with an operator expires or is terminated.
- Provide for the City of Fort Pierce to enter into an emergency contract to operate the shelter, in the event that the contract with an operator expires or is terminated.
RECOMMENDATION:
