SUBJECT:
Approval of Employment Agreement with Peter J. Sweeney for full time legal services as the City Attorney for the City of Fort Pierce.
SUMMARY:
On September 4, 2018, the City Commission approved a professional services agreement with Colin Baenziger & Associates for the purpose of selecting and hiring a professional inhouse City Attorney for the City of Fort Pierce. On December 6, 2018, five final candidates recommended by Colin Baenziger & Associates were interviewed, both individually by each member of the City Commission and collectively as a group at a Special City Commission meeting. Peter J. Sweeney was selected and Colin Baenziger along with staff negotiated the terms of the attached contract.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the approval of the Employment Agreement.
ALTERNATIVES:
Staff will proceed as directed by the City Commission.
