Conference Agenda Meeting - Monday, January 13, 2020 - 9:00 a.m.
City Hall - City Commission Chambers, 100 North U.S. #1, Fort Pierce, Florida

Mayor Hudson called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

Commissioner Sessions arrived at 9:04 a.m.

New Business
 
a.
Addressing Differing Interpretations of the Florida Building Code - Presentation by Paul Thomas, CBO, CFM, Building Official
Building Official, Paul Thomas, provided a detailed overview with regard to various Florida Statutes that govern the actions of building officials and building inspectors, including how anyone may formally dispute a Building Official's interpretation of the building code, and that the building official may not be threatened, coerced, tricked, persuaded or influenced regarding his code interpretation.   Essentially, the building code administrator or building official shall faithfully perform the responsibilities outlined in Florida statutes without interference from any person.
 
b.
Update of 2019 Strategic Plan as of December 1, 2019 for informational purposes.
Mr. Mimms provided a brief overview of the 2019 Strategic Plan and reminded the Commissioners that we are initiating the process for 2020 later today with phone calls and will hold the Strategic Planning Workshop on January 31, 2020 at the River Walk Center.

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC

Any person who wishes to comment on any subject may be heard at this time. Please limit your comments to three (3) minutes or less, as directed by the Mayor, as this section of the Agenda is limited to thirty minutes. The City Commission will not be able to take any official actions under Comments from the Public. Speakers will address the Mayor, Commissioners, and the Public with respect. Inappropriate language will not be tolerated.

City Commission Boards and Committees Updates
Commissioner Alexander had no update.

Commissioner Perona indicated he attended his first Scenic Highway meeting and the Fire District continues to be very busy.

Commissioner Sessions inquired about a serious incident over the weekend.

Commissioner Johnson reported that Main Street is doing very well; inquired about the disbursement of their annual contract payment and indicated the fish on the fence project has been a huge hit and is ongoing.

Mayor Hudson reported that the County will be forming a complete count census committee; congratulated Shyanne Helms on her recent recognition; reported that she continues to receive complaints and concerns about the scooters; the legislative session is getting underway and FPUA will be considering another reduction in the PCA, 
 
7.
Adjournment

Immediately following adjournment, please move toward the doors and exit the chambers. This allows for the safe and courteous exit of all persons, and those on the dais. Conversations after the meeting should be held outside of chambers, in the foyer or elsewhere, but not in the commission chambers where lights will be out as soon as the chambers are empty.
Mayor Hudson adjourned the meeting at 10:07 a.m.
