CRA Advisory Committee Minutes
OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE FORT PIERCE CRA ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2021, IN FORT PIERCE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA.

CALL TO ORDER
Chairwoman Taylor called the meeting to order at 2:00pm

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a.
Approval of the Minutes from the October 20, 2021 Meeting.
There was no approval of the minutes.

OLD BUSINESS
a.
FPRA Boundaries
Miriam Garcia, Redevelopment Specialist, provided some clarification regarding the boundaries. She explained that the boundaries extend from South Beach to 33rd Street and Avenue Q to Georgia Avenue.
b.
Commercial Facade Grant Overview
Miriam Garcia gave a brief overview of the Commercial Façade Grant Program. She explained that the intent of the Commercial Façade Grant Program is to support the revitalization of the commercial corridors in the FPRA district by stimulating private investment in improvements that enhance the appearance of buildings and properties and eliminate blight and non-conforming design standards. This program is designed to encourage redevelopment of the FPRA by enhancing its visual aesthetics which will lead to increased property values, tenant occupancy, economic development, and job creation.

NEW BUSINESS
a.
Florida Redevelopment Association Conference Overview
Chair, Sabrina Taylor provided an overview of the Florida Redevelopment Association Conference. Discussion included financing programs for CRA. Mike Brown Jr. explained that there are programs available for funding. Shyanne Helms explained that we do have First Time Homebuyer programs, SHIP Program and other programs available for the buyers. She would love for Mr. Brown to provide some financing options for the developers as well. She reminded the committee that the goals of the CRA are to preserve and enhance the tax base and improve the quality of life.
b.
2021 Year End Update to CRAAC & FPRA Board
Chairwoman Taylor asked the committee if they could provide some feedback for the update to the FPRA Board. The activities that were discussed were surplus properties, priority corridors, FPRA Incentive programs, Sunrise Center utilization, and FPRA logo contest

STAFF AND COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Mike Brown Jr. asked for the status of the train station. Ms. Harnage explained that there is no new update on the train station.
