MINUTES OF A  MEETING OF THE PARKING COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, HELD IN THE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH U.S. #1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, AT 9:00 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9, 2021.

Approval of the Minutes from the April 14, 2021 Meeting

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC

Any person who wishes to comment on any subject on this Agenda may be heard at this time. Please limit your comments to no more than five (5) minutes, as this section of the Agenda is limited to thirty minutes. The Parking Committee will not be able to take any official action under “Comments from the Public” section.

OLD BUSINESS
 
a.
Parking Committee Recommendations
Michael Broderick just gave a recap of the recommendations that will be presented at the Conference Agenda before the City Commission which will be:
1. Install free public parking signs.
2. increase the number of paid parking slots at the Marina Tenant Parking lot by 4, increasing the total parking spaces to 24.
3. Designating 25 parking spaces on the East side of Melody Lane south of the City Marina to 2 hour parking.
4. Encourage the City Commission to hire a second part-time parking enforcement officer.

NEW BUSINESS
 
a.
Parking Ordinances Presentation by Code Compliance Manager, Peggy Arraiz
Peggy Arraiz updated the board on the ordinances that needed to be updated, and she confirmed that she is working with Walker and Associates on updating the ordinances. She went over the recommendations from Walker and what she believes could work. The board gave their ideas and thoughts on certain topics. Some topics brought up were unpaid parking, immobilizing cars, tickets, resident beach parking permits, she recommended that all signage be changed at the same time once everything goes into effect. Peggy updated the board that City Manager Nick Mimms gave the ok to hire the 2nd part-time code enforcement officer and starting August 1st, 2021 they will begin issuing citations again. Peggy mentioned there are 3 parts to the ordinances, and she will be updating the committee in parts.

COMMITTEE AND STAFF COMMENTS
Commisioner Perona and Michael Broderick brought up different topics that they wanted to speak on.
