MINUTES OF A  MEETING OF THE PARKING COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, HELD IN THE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH U.S. #1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, AT 9:00 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2021.

Approval of Minutes from the July 14, 2021 Meeting

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC

Any person who wishes to comment on any subject on this Agenda may be heard at this time. Please limit your comments to no more than five (5) minutes, as this section of the Agenda is limited to thirty minutes. The Parking Committee will not be able to take any official action under “Comments from the Public” section.

OLD BUSINESS
 
a.
Recommendations Update
Chairman Broderick cautioned the Committee on attendance, informing them that after 2 absences a member may be removed. It is now in the City Commissions hands on how they they will handle the absences on all Boards and Committees.
Several recommendations were made at the last Conference Agenda meeting and they were all approved. Chairman Broderick went through all the recommendations and they also discused more attendance concerns and other parking related issues.

NEW BUSINESS
 
a.
Parking Garage Designated Parking by Sgt. Casandra Davis, Fort Pierce Police Department
 

Motion was made by Anton Kreisl, seconded by Dan Cushman Offer the 30-minute parking space to the police department.

Sgt. Cassandra Davis did not come to the meeting. The committee discussed on giving a parking space to the police department. Commissioner Perona mentioned giving them the 30-minute parking space next to his parking space on the first floor. 
 
b.
Proposed Parking Ordinance
Peggy Arraiz asked the committee for their input on the parking ordinances that covers the parking issues that the her staff have identified over the past couple of years. Chairman Broderick asked about the paid parking on the beach, Ms. Arraiz explained the resident paid parking and how it would work for families and illegal use of sharing the resident permits. She gave an overview on business parking permit for the businesses using personal vehicles using loading zones. Contractors parking permits and Marina parking permit was among the other conversastion. Doris Tillman mentioned some concerns she has during Friday Fest and Peggy offered to speak to Walker Consultants on creating parking for special events. 
Ms. Arraiz went over some other additions that have been made in the ordinance and the committee gave their thoughts on booting, ticketing and towing cars, as well as fees. 
 
c.
Angled Parking on Indian River Drive
Chairman Broderick began the conversation on angled parking from Seaway Drive all the way into town. It was a recommendation to the Commission, the Engineering Department input is major before making any decisions. Further research is being done.
