MINUTES OF A  MEETING OF THE PARKING COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, HELD IN THE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH U.S. #1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, AT 9:00 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2021.

a.
Walker Parking Study Recommendations Implementation Update
Audria Moore-Wells updated the board that they are working on finalizing the parking ordinances that will be presented to the City Commission. She is currently working on the RFP for the paid parking program which will go out in November or December. Walker is working on the analysis for the Downtown area.

NEW BUSINESS
 
a.
Parking Garage Designated Parking by Deputy Chief Robert Ridle, FPPD
Deputy Chief Ridle from the Fort Pierce Police Department is requesting two(2) parking spots in the parking garage, one(1) along Orange Avenue and one(1) along Avenue A.

b.
Cobbs Landing Parking by Dean Kubitschek, Marina Manager
Dean Kubitschek spoke on behalf of the manager of Cobb's Landing. They are requesting 2-3 parking spots on the South side of the building. They would like these spots for pickup/drop off and a loading zone. After discussing the options, Chairperson Michael Broderick requested they continue the conversation at the next meeting so that he may go and see the spaces himself and review the area. Gus Gutierrez wants to make a motion that they hire a parking consultant to look into the matter and let them find a solution to the problem. They voted to ask the Walker consultants to analyze the downtown restaurant parking situation, especially Cobb's Landing.
 
c.
Boat Trailer Parking

The lot across from the Manatee Center has 14 parking spaces for boats and trailers, but the spaces need fresh stripes and to be reconfigured, it also needs to be designated for boats and trailers. Commissioner Perona suggested making a recommendation and sending their concerns to the Engineering Department so that they may work on the issue. Gus Gutierrez suggested that the Engineering Department work with Walker Consultants to find a solution that take into account the Manatee Center, Seven Gables and the museum to reconfigure the multipurpose parking lot.
 
d.
Museum Pointe - Second Street and Backus
 

Motion was made by Tom Perona, seconded by Gus Gutierrez Commissioner Perona spoke about the parking lot across from the corner from Natalie's to see about a possible parking garage and pursuing this option and sending out a letter to let them know of the City's interest.
Commissioner Perona received many parking complaints about being ticketed on second street and backus. People are parking on the travel lane, and it is being requested to paint the curb yellow or place proper signage. The board is recommending that the City work with st. Lucie County to identify the area as no parking.
