Motion was made by Melvin Jones, Sr., seconded by Derrick Gibbons to approve the minutes of the March 11, 2021 workshop.

The Police Community Advisory Board will not be able to take any official action under “Comments from the Public” section.

OLD BUSINESS
A.
PCAC Community Survey.
Members reviewed the comments that were made on the revised survey. After a brief discussion on the questions, it was agreed that for clarity a few changes should be made to some of the questions.
Question #3: The word “competency” would be replaced by “ability”.
Question #5: The word “appearance”, would now read, “physical appearance”
Question #8 would now read: “Is there enough police in your neighborhood?”
Question #9: Examples of what traffic enforcement means should be provided.
Staff Braun informed members that a map of the department’s patrol zones was attached to the survey.The modified survey will be sent to members.

Upcomming Events.
Member Hendley informed the meeting of an upcoming 5K Run/Walk that will be held in support for victims of crimes on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

STAFF COMMENTS
Staff Braun shared with members that they are invited to participate in an upcoming Oral Board for the selection of new hires. Members were asked to make contact should they be interested.

COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Member Gibbons shared with members how welcoming it is to see that the department was still conducting its Roll Call meetings in the community.
Member Hendley wanted to find out if the department could access grant funds to cover public announcements to educate citizens of their role as key stakeholders in the community. Staff Norris will follow-up on this.
With regards to the funding of the Resources in Community Hope (RICH) House, Member Hendley noted that she would love to explore that with the police department.
Member Hayek thanked members for their participation in the meeting, and that the discussions were very rewarding.
