OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE FORT PIERCE CRA ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 2022, IN FORT PIERCE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA.

Chairwoman Sabrina Taylor called the meeting to order at 2:02 PM.

Review and make recommendation for Commercial Façade Grant - 809 Delaware Ave
Miriam Garcia provided a brief presentation of the rankings for the Commercial Façade Grant Applications. She explained that the goals of the program are to support the revitalization of the commercial corridors of the FPRA District. The grant programs offer financial assistance in the form of a reimbursable grant, matching 50% up to $25,000. She provided information of the pre-application, application and evaluation. 30 applications were received and evaluated on visual impact, activation of a vacant building, business type, and meeting the goals of the FPRA Plan. 809 Delaware Avenue, 825 N Indian River Dr, 1105 Seaway Drive, and 906 Delaware Avenue were the highest ranked properties therefore the CRA Advisory Committee recommended award for the Commercial Façade Grant.
Shyanne Harnage explained that the applicants had to submit the application, design and construction plans, examples of project colors, cost estimates and or design and a letter describing why the project should be selected. She was very excited about the number of applications and response for the Commercial Façade Grant program.

CRA Advisory Committee Recommendations to FPRA Board
1.
Ideas and recommendations for Orange Avenue Corridor
The Committee discussed the beautification Orange Avenue corridor. Miriam Garcia provided some examples of Code Enforcement violations. The committee agreed that the business owners and property owners need to take ownership and clean up their properties.

- Orange Avenue Corridor Association
- Additional funds for future Façade Grants
2.
Recommendation for concentrated effort to recruit Brightline
Phil Thompson mentioned that he wants to be proactive to assist and recruit Brightline. They would like to inform the FPRA Board that the CRA Advisory Committee supports this project and recommends that there should be a concentrated effort to recruit Brightline to Fort Pierce.
3.
Tunnel to Towers discussion at the request of Phil Thompson
Phil Thompson provided information regarding the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. He explained that this organization builds mortgage-free-homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. This program seeks land donation from the City or FPRA to build the mortgage-free-homes.

There were no public comments.
8.
STAFF AND COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Mike Brown inquired regarding calling into the CRA Advisory Committee Meetings instead of being present in person. Ms. Harnage explained that members need to be present in person for a quorum and to be marked present. She also explained that in the event of an absence, please notify staff ahead of time and then the committee can vote to excuse the absence.
