A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA; ESTABLISHING THE MILITARY HOMETOWN HERO BANNER PROGRAM AND ADOPTING POLICIES AND GUIDELINES AND AN APPLICATION THERETO; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Marsha Commond, Public Works, presented establishing the Military Hometown Hero Banner Program and Adopting Policies and Guidelines and an Application.
The Commission inquired on how the banner would be cared for, consideration of a keepsake that would be provided if the banner deteriorated, how honorees are determined, expansion into other areas of the City, and the promotion of the program.
Ms. Commond commented on the expected longevity of the banner, possible expansion, and promotion of the program.
Motion was made by Commissioner Curtis Johnson, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Jeremiah Johnson to approve Resolution 24-R40.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PROPERTY NEAR 601 N. CAUSEWAY FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA, BY AND THROUGH THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY AND INCIDENT TO SUCH PURCHASE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
John R. Andrews, City Engineer/Deputy City Manager, commented on the acquisition of the property.
Motion was made by Commissioner Jeremiah Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Michael Broderick to accept the nomination of Commissioner Curtis Johnson, Jr. as the voting delegate for the Florida League of Cities Annual Conference.

Commissioner Jeremiah Johnson commented on the nation, evaluation of the City, wages, development, resources and solution to City matters.
Commissioner Broderick thanked the police department staff and commented on the turnover within the police department that requires a resolution, and federal appropriations.
Mayor Hudson commented on the police department and their value, residential and commercial taxes.
Immediately following adjournment, please move toward the doors and exit the chambers. This allows for the safe and courteous exit of all persons, and those on the dais.
