STAFF COMMENTS
• Ordinance adopted by the city Commission in July changed the board composition to five members. Missing a consumer rep and a licensed member.
• City placed a press release advertising the vacancies but received no responses
• Review of new licensing laws revealed state statute requires local board members to be
city residents.
• Three members had to end their terms because they were not city residents.

Impact on Fort Pierce Contractors
• The impact on Fort Pierce contractors is not substantial; about 90-92 specialty
contractors held licenses in fiscal year 2024.
• Contractors with licenses that have similar licenses to migrate to have done so.
• Painting contractors and pavers (among others) no longer need a license, as per state
regulations.
• Less than five licenses have been put on hold pending additional information for proper
classification.
