MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE ARTS AND CULTURE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, HELD IN THE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, CITY HALL, 100 NORTH U.S. #1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA, AT 9:00 A.M. ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2025.

CALL TO ORDER
Chairwoman Julie Pouliotte called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m.

ROLL CALL
Present:
Julie Pouliotte, Chairwoman; Doretha Hair Truesdell, Vice-Chair; Ipyana Abayomi; Lisa Kessler
Absent:

Audria Moore, Special Projects Coordinator; Brittany Meredith, Deputy City Clerk

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC
Any person who wishes to comment on any subject on this Agenda may be heard at this time. Please sign the sign-up sheet in order to speak. Please limit your comments to no more than five (5) minutes, as this section of the Agenda is limited to thirty minutes. The Arts and Culture Advisory Board will not be able to take any official action under “Comments from the Public” section.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
 
a.
Approval of the Minutes from the January 28, 2025 meeting.
 

Motion by Lisa Kessler, seconded by Vice-Chair Doretha Hair Truesdell to approve the minutes from the January 28, 2025 meeting.

5.
NEW BUSINESS
 
a.
Selection of artist and design for the City Hall mural 
Redevelopment Specialist Sara Delgado, presented the candidates for the City Hall mural. The board reviewed them and scored them. The winning candidate is Mr. Sitki with the recommendation that the buildings in the background are local to Fort Pierce, like the Sunrise Theater, Old City Hall, the Boston House, or Old Saint Anastasia.
 
b.
Discussion of funding report requirements for the Zora Neale Hurston Festival
The board discussed the funding report line by line and chose which items they would like the funding to go towards. They would like the giveaway items to be her books.
 

Motion by Lisa Kessler, seconded by Vice-Chair Doretha Hair Truesdell to recommend the $15,000 requested for the Zora Neale Hurston Festival to be put towards these items, $4,715 for the Venue Accessories, $3,450 for the Musical entertainment, $1,250 for the Children’s Corner Supplies (this is to include $250.00 for the Face Painting), $450 for the Honorarium, $800 for the van for tours, $2,000 for the tables and chairs, and $1,000 for the giveaways and to require for this event and any events in the future that are utilizing funds from the Art in Public Places account to submit the Reporting Requirements document within 90 days of the end of the event.

c.
New Board Member “At Large” Selection Update
Special Projects Coordinator Audria Moore let the board know Mr. Bey declined the appointment to the board and the City will be putting out another call for applications.

OLD BUSINESS
 
a.
Highwaymen Museum Mural Update
Ms. Moore let the board know the City has reached out for applications for the mural at the Highwaymen Museum. The mural has already been selected the City is just looking for an artist to paint it.
 
b.
Potential Mural locations
The board discussed potential mural locations and gave a few locations for Ms. Moore to investigate.
 
7.
BOARD AND STAFF DISCUSSION
Mr. Abayomi mentioned the International Event on the Old Saint Anastasia grounds.
 
8.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson, Julie Pouliotte adjourned the meeting at 10:42 AM.
