CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson, Renella Mitchell, called the June 26, 2025, Parks Advisory Committee Board meeting to order at 10:00 A.M.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a.
Approval of the Minutes from the March 20, 2025 Meeting.
Motion was made by Ionis Jefferson-Knowles, seconded by Chase Whitaker to approve the Minutes from the March 20, 2025, Meeting

OLD BUSINESS
a.
Jetty Park Memorial Plaques & Flowers
Special Project Coordinator, Marsha Commond, let the Committee know that the city will soon be in the process of removing the Memorial Plaques and Flowers from Jetty Park. The committee asked who originally authorized the displays and if there were any funds collected? The public were the ones to install plaques and without authorization or payment. Ms. Commond let them know the city will put out a public notice before the plaques are removed. The board asked Ms. Commond to investigate an alternative option for memorials.

NEW BUSINESS
a.
Coach Fenn Park Improvement Update
Ms. Commond let the committee know the public works department has put park improvements into their budget request for the upcoming year. They discussed a few items to be added or fixed, like basketball courts, adult exercise areas, splash pads, and baseball fields. The Public Works department is working with the Grants Department to look for any grants for improvements. The board is requesting a field trip to the various parks within the City.
Motion was made by Ionis Jefferson-Knowles, seconded by Chase Whitaker to request a field trip to the various parks within the City.

Parks and Recreation Impact Fee
Ms. Commond let the Committee know that finance controls the funds and that she is working with them to find out what has been collected and where it’s been allocated.
c.
NW Pioneer Park Program Update
Ms. Commond let the Committee know the Commission is asking for a change to the guidelines to know where the funds come from, and to know which department will oversee the program. Ms. Jefferson asked for the original list of 22 names that was submitted to the Commission.
7.
BOARD AND STAFF DISCUSSION
Ms. Mitchell asked if the Board could receive badges so that way they could be identified as a part of the Parks Advisory Committee when going to City Parks.
