CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson, Janessa Diaz called the meeting to order at 4:01P.M.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a.
Approval of the minutes from the August 21st meeting
Motion by Naomi Hypolite, seconded by Clarice Jean to approve the minutes from the August 21, 2025 Fort Pierce Youth Council meeting.

NEW BUSINESS
a.
City Initiatives
1.
Florida City Government Week Youth Essay Contest
Special Projects Coordinator, Audria Moore, let the Committee know next week is Florida City Government week and the City is holding an Essay contest. The Committee will review the submitted essays and choose the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
2.
Youth Community Listening Campaign
The Committee discussed options for a youth community listening campaign and came up with an idea to do an event titled “Share your Love of the Community." They would like to hold it on February 14th 2026 from 2-3 P.M. and are working together to create fliers, media releases, social media posts, and a timeline for this event.
3.
Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful
Ms. Moore let the Committee know the Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful board just launched an Anti-Littering Campaign titled Our City, Our Responsibility.
4.
FPRA Youth Banner Showcase
Ms. Moore informed the Committee that the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency is showcasing the submitted Youth Banner art pieces as the flags that go on the light poles throughout the FPRA District.
5.
Comprehensive Plan, Evaluation, and Appraisal Review
Stephanie Heidt with the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council gave the presentation on the Comprehensive Plan, Evaluation, and Appraisal. She gave the Committee fliers to hand out to their peers that asked for feedback/ changes they would like to see in the future.
b.
FLC 2025 Youth Council Summit
Ms. Moore let the Committee know about the upcoming FLC Youth Council Summit on November 8th in DeLand, FL. She let them know if they would like to attend. We need to know by October 20th as the deadline to register for the event is October 24th. Ms. Diaz and Ms. Naomi Hypolite both expressed interest in attending.

Youth Initiatives
1.
Empower Youth
Ms. Moore let the Committee know the Empower Youth initiative is the Listening Event they are planning.
2.
City of Fort Pierce Youth Recognition Award Program
Ms. Moore let the Committee know this program opens in January and the deadline to submit nominations is in March. The Board will review the applications in April. In May, they will be presented to the Commission and in June they will receive the awards.
3.
Youth Council Legislative Action days
Ms. Moore informed the Committee of the upcoming event in Tallahassee in January 2026, the FLC Youth Council Legislative Actions Days.
4.
FLC Excellence Award
This will be discussed at the next meeting.
5.
Council2college Scholarship
This will be discussed at the next meeting.
