1.
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Janessa Diaz called the meeting to order at 4:27 P.M.

ROLL CALL
Present:
Vice Chair Reese Adams; Chairperson Janessa Diaz; Naomi Hypolite; Clarice Jean; 2nd Vice Chair Mayling Augustin; Bianca Estime; Addison Fee; Elizabeth Outten; Timothy Nixon
Absent:

Motion made by Naomi Hypolite, Seconded by Vice Chair Reese Adams to excuse Elizabeth Outten's absence.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
 
a.
Approval of the minutes from the October 16, 2025, Fort Pierce Youth Council meeting
 

Motion made by Vice Chair Reese Adams, Seconded by Naomi Hypolite to approve the minutes from the October 16, 2025 meeting with corrections to item 5c2.

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC

Any person who wishes to comment on any subject on this Agenda may be heard at this time. Please limit your comments to no more than five (5) minutes, as this section of the Agenda is limited to thirty minutes. The Youth Advisory Committee will not be able to take any official action under “Comments from the Public” section.

OLD BUSINESS
 
a.
Youth Community Listening Session Update
Special Projects Coordinator, Audria Moore, let the board know she spoke with the Director of the Boys and Girls Club and the proposed weekend date for the listening session would not work. Ms. Moore recommended to host their February Youth Council meeting at the Percy Peek Gym. The Board discussed keeping the valentines theme and hosting the meeting on February 12th.
 

Motion made by Vice Chair Reese Adams, Seconded by Clarice Jean to move the listening event to February 12th at the Percy Peek Gym.

Youth Summit Update
Naomi Hypolite, Mayling Augustine, and Biance Estime updated the Board on the recent trip to DeLand for the Youth Summit. They shared what they enjoyed the most about the event and the biggest thing they all agreed on was the chance for Public Speaking and talking professionally with their peers. They also enjoyed the different perspectives from the other Youth Councils.
 
c.
Youth Legislative Action Days, Tallahassee - January 26 - 29, 2026
Ms. Moore discussed the Florida League of Cities event in January and asked the committee if anyone is interested in attending. Reese Adams, Janessa Diaz, Naomi Hypolite, Bianca Estime, Mayling Augustine, and Timothy Nixon all expressed interest in attending.

d.
City of Fort Pierce Youth Recognition Award Program
Ms. Moore informed the committee this will be coming up for further discussion in January.
 
e.
Comprehensive Plan, Evaluation, and Appraisal Review Survey
Ms. Moore let the committee know there were not many responses to this survey and let them know that it is for the future of the city.
 
f.
FLC Excellence Award
Ms. Moore let the committee know there is an award the Florida League of Cities presents to Youth Councils and Ms. Diaz as the chairperson, will gather more information about the award.
 
g.
Council2college Scholarship
Ms. Moore mentioned this scholarship is for High School Seniors and it is an essay.
 
6.
NEW BUSINESS
 
a.
Florida City Government Week Youth Essay Contest
Ms. Moore informed the committee there were only two submissions. The Committee discussed reopening the submissions for the contest.
 

Motion made by Naomi Hypolite, Seconded by Addison Fee to reopen the Florida City Government Week Youth Essay Contest with the new deadline to submit essays being December 5th

Chairperson Janessa Diaz adjourned the meeting at 5:04P.M.
