CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Janessa Diaz called the meeting to order at 4:05 P.M.

Motion made by Vice Chair Reese Adams, Seconded by Timothy Nixon to excuse Elizabeth Outten's absence.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a.
Approval of minutes from the December 18, 2025, Fort Pierce Youth Council meeting.
Motion made by Vice Chair Reese Adams, Seconded by Bianca Estime to approve the minutes from the December 18, 2025, Fort Pierce Youth Council Meeting.

OLD BUSINESS
a.
Update on the essay winners - Commission Approval
Special Projects Coordinator, Audria Moore, let the Committee know the Commission approved the selections and if the 1st place winner doesn’t respond, they will not be receiving the award. Ms. Moore asked if anyone would be able to attend to help give the awards and Janessa and Naomi said they could attend.
b.
Update on Youth Award - Nomimations are open until March 31, 2026
Ms. Moore let the Committee know they will be receiving the nominations for this award to review and approve.
c.
Youth Council Excellence Award - Deadline for entries is March 4, 2026
Ms. Moore let the Committee know that the listening event they're planning could count as a nomination for the board to get this award.
d.
Council2College Scholarship - Deadline for entries is April 1, 2026
Ms. Moore let the seniors on the board know if they would like to be nominated for this scholarship, she can provide the required recommendation letter from staff.

Youth Community Listening Event discussion
The board discussed the listening event and selected the 2nd option for the flyer as they thought it looked more teen-friendly. They discussed the roles for the event. They will be asking the Explorers to run the roles because the board will be the panel. They would like to go to the gym to see how they can set up for the event prior to the event day.
Motion made by Timothy Nixon, Seconded by Clarice Jean to select the 2nd option for the flyers for the event with the changes to update the flyer with the event information.

Motion made by Timothy Nixon, Seconded by Naomi Hypolite to set up a tour of the gym on February 5th at 4 P.M.
