CONFERENCE AGENDA MINUTES

Conference Agenda Meeting - Monday, October 10, 2016 - 8:30 a.m.
City Hall - 2nd Floor Conference Room, 100 North U.S. #1, Fort Pierce, Florida

Call to Order

The October 10, 2016 conference agenda meeting was called to order at 8:42 a.m.

A.
Status Update Regarding Hurricane Matthew

Mr. Mimms gave a brief update on actions from City staff that took place in preparation leading up to, during and the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
 
B.
Discussion of items for agenda of joint meeting with St. Lucie County scheduled for November 10, 2016 to discuss the Port of Fort Pierce.

Mr. Mimms explained that a semi-annual joint meeting is scheduled for November 10, 2016 to discuss the progress of the improvements to the Port of Fort Pierce.  He explained that St. Lucie County identified the following topics of discussion: 
  • Second Street Improvement Update
  • Activities on Fisherman's Wharf
  • Harbor Pointe
He explained that at the last meeting, it was decided that language and technical specifications would be drafted for an RFP to be advertised for possible development of Harbor Pointe.

Mayor Hudson added that perhaps there should be a discussion on the Revenue Referendum should it pass with St. Lucie County.
 
 
C.
Discussion of Citizen Budget Oversight Committee

Mr. Mimms explained that the committee's role is to make sure that the public has input on how the City's money is being spent and that there is complete transparency.   Further discussion ensued about setting qualifications and eligibility requirements, term limits and a focus on capital improvements.The Committee will discuss the possible implementation of the half cent sales tax for infrastructure.
 
D.
Six Month Performance Evaluation of James Messer, City Attorney

A brief discussion took place evaluating Mr. James Messer, City Attorney on his performance since starting with the City of Fort Pierce providing in-house legal services.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 9:52 a.m.
