Discussion, ranking and selection of City Attorney.
Mr. Colin Baenziger, of Colin Baenziger & Associates gave a brief overview of the suggested procedure for selecting the City Attorney. Each Commissioner was asked to select their top two candidates.
Commissioner Sessions selected James Messer and John Turner.
Commissioner Perona selected Gary Glassman and James Messer.
Commissioner Becht selected James Messer and John Turner.
Commissioner Alexander selected Iola Mosley and Philip Sherwin.
Mayor Hudson selected Gary Glassman and John Turner.
The City Clerk indicated there were two votes for Mr. Glassman, three for Mr. Messer, one for Ms. Mosely, one for Mr. Sherwin and three for Mr. Turner. Accordingly, Mr. Messer and Mr. Turner were the top vote getters.
The Mayor and Commission elected to move forward with the second ballot where they were asked to select one candidate. Commissioners Sessions, Perona and Becht selected Mr. Messer; Mayor Hudson and Commissioner Alexander selected Mr. Turner.
Mr. Baenziger indicated that if agreeable, Mr. Messer would be the first choice and Mr. Turner the second choice.
The Mayor and Commission agreed that we had five outstanding candidates.
