STAFF COMMENTS

Nicholas Mimms, City Manager, stated the the community input meeting will be held on August 24, 2016 to gain input from local residents and community stakeholders to discuss downtown development. Once we get community input we will go through the right process to ensure property is declared a surplus. Commissioner Becht stated the impact fees of $5000 per room do incentive someone to build a hotel downtown. Rebecca Grohall, stated that we should have a discussion with the County or Tourist Development Council. The County impact fees represent the roads, fire department impact and public buildings and does not impact schools or parks. Nicholas Mimms, City Manager, stated that they are looking for targeted zones for economic development which may help with providing incentives for industry to come to Fort Pierce.
