OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE FORT PIERCE CITY CRA ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2018, IN FORT PIERCE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes from the December 20, 2017 meeting
Motion was made by Hoyt Murphy, Jr., and seconded by Junette Raymond to approve the minutes from the December 20, 2017 meeting.

CHAIRMAN VIEWPOINTS
Chairman Matthews stated at the February 16, 2018 FPRA meeting the CRA re-appointments were approved and the expenditure for the roof replacement at Cobb's Landing was approved. Chairman Matthews encouraged the committee to bring new ideas and new relationships to the CRA meetings.

a.
Update from Officer Maldonado
Officer Maldonado informed the CRA committee that there are more homeless all over the city. Officer Maldonado explained the police are trying to get rid of the homeless camps but if the homeless keep being fed they will not go away. He said the homeless will spread the word to other homeless that Ft. Pierce is a nice place to be.
Mr. Murphy showed pictures of an existing homeless camp with large amounts of rotted food and excess clothing.
The CRA committee discussed the social service agencies only providing a meal to the homeless instead of bags of groceries.
Officer Maldonado informed the CRA committee that there are more homeless all over the city. Motion was made by Allan Reed, and seconded by Kristina Gibbons to notify the head of social services in St. Lucie County to police the areas they serve by keeping areas clean and discarding of excess food and clothing.

Review responses for H.D. King Request for Qualifications
Shyanne Helms explained the proposals are due in March and presentations will be given the week of April 9, 2018. She stated April 18, 2018 the proposals will be ranked and part of the evaluation will be to determine whether the city is going to sell or lease the property. Ms. Helms informed the committee that questions can be asked during the presentations.
The CRA committee discussed having more residential housing in downtown and keeping the design of the development with Fort Pierce's character.

Motion was made by Junette Raymond, and seconded by Plythe Freedman to nominate Kristina Gibbons as secretary.

Ellen Mancini, Resident, introduced herself and stated she was interested in joining the CRA committee.
Members of the public commented on what they would like to see on the HD King site.

Mr. Murphy thanked Cindi O'Connell for her service on the CRA committee and suggested that good things that have been accomplished by the Fort Pierce CRA. be communicated to the public.
