OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE FORT PIERCE CITY CRA ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18, 2018, IN FORT PIERCE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes from the January 17, 2018 meeting
 

Motion was made by Junette Raymond, and seconded by Hoyt Murphy, Jr. to approve the minutes from the January 17, 2018 meeting.

CHAIRMAN VIEWPOINTS

Chairman Matthew's suggested the CRA Committee establish a pilot program to rehabilitate a building or house by partnering with contractors and realtors in the community.

a.
Lincoln Park Activities by Caleta Scott

This item was presented after 6b.

Ms. Scott, Lincoln Park Revitalization Coordinator, explained that her fairly new position is grant funded by the Allegany Franciscan Ministries and she has been given initiatives to work on that are in line with the city's strategic goals. Ms. Scott stated her goals for Lincoln Park are to create and foster a healthy community, positive environmental economic impact and economic viability. Ms. Scott explained she is tasked with getting WiFi in Lincoln Park, bringing quality business and livable wages to Lincoln Park and creating a business database and economic viability for the businesses that are already located in Lincoln Park. Ms. Scott said she is also working on adding five more community gardens.

The CRA committee suggested Ms. Scott create a Board to collaborate with.
 
b.
St. Lucie Cultural Alliance

Neil Levine, Executive Director of the Brevard Cultural Alliance, gave a presentation on how the local arts agency will work. He explained how art and culture can add to regeneration and that the local arts agency must be a nexus and bring everybody together in order to move forward.

Gus Gutierrez, Chairman of St. Lucie Cultural Alliance, said he would like to see St. Lucie County as a destination for arts and culture, that would improve the quality of life, bring business, jobs and interest for people to stay in the county. Mr. Gutierrez stated he would like the CRA committee to bridge together by building partnerships in the community.

The CRA committee asked questions of Mr. Levine regarding the first steps, funding, economic impact study and time frame for creating the cultural alliance.

Pilot Program for Vacant Building Revitalization

Chairman Matthews asked the committee to look around and find two buildings in the CRA district that need to be revitalized.
