OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE FORT PIERCE CITY CRA ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2018, IN FORT PIERCE 2ND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM, 100 NORTH US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA.

Minutes from the May 16, 2018 meeting
Motion was made by Hoyt Murphy, Jr., and seconded by Kristina Gibbons to approve the minutes from the May 16, 2018 meeting.

PAD (Peacock Arts District) Presentation
Shyanne Helms, Communications Manager, gave a presentation on the Peacock Arts District, outlining the boundaries, beautification, partnerships, economic development, activity generation and the next steps.

Update from Officer Maldonado
Officer Maldonado gave an update on the homeless situation in Fort Pierce and stated there are twice as many homeless people than last year. When interviewing the homeless, Officer Maldonado said the homeless come to Ft. Pierce because it is warm and they get clothes and food. He explained that part of the problem is that the churches are bringing food to the the parks to feed the homeless.
Discussion ensued from the committee on moving the homeless out of the parks at night and moving the homeless off of private property.
Chairman Matthews suggested that the police department look at the new homeless program in West Palm Beach and Orlando.
Ms. Grohall suggested the committee come to the October 2018 FPRA meeting to discuss the homeless situation.

New Downtown Electric Tram
Mike Reals gave an overview on the new downtown electric tram the city is planning to purchase. He explained the city should have the tram in 30 - 45 days if they get the approvals needed from the state. Mr. Reals stated the tram is less maintenance that the trolley and it will hold 15 people plus a driver. Mr. Reals said the trolley will be kept for rentals.
