Progress Payment #2 in the amount of $607,312.53 due to Martinez Landscape Company, Inc. of Sylmar, CA for General Maintenance (Project # 22-05).
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve this Progress Payment #2 and change orders 6 and 7 due to Martinez Landscape Company, Inc. of Sylmar, CA.
DISCUSSION:
This contract encompasses various crucial maintenance activities, including the City's Weed Abatement Project, landscape and general maintenance needs, and specific tasks such as concrete and asphalt replacement, sidewalk, curb, and gutter replacements. Additionally, it includes essential tree planting, removal, and maintenance services for the medians along Hawthorne Blvd, Prairie Ave, Inglewood Ave, and Imperial Hwy. These contract maintenance activities are designed to complement the work performed by City Staff as required.
Furthermore, the contract incorporates regular debris maintenance on Caltrans right of way, ensuring that roads and adjacent areas remain free from obstructions. This work plays a vital role in preserving safe and accessible roadways, while also preventing the accumulation of trash, plastic, and other debris from being washed into our storm drains by rainwater. By effectively managing debris, the contract helps to safeguard the cleanliness and functionality of the surrounding environment.
Lastly, this payment includes installation of pressure valves at Jim Thorpe Park and the release of retention for year 2 of this general maintenance contract.

None. Funds for this payment in the amount of $607,312.53 are available in the adopted Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget and will be paid for with approved and allocated funds from Prop C, Measure R, and Non-Gas Tax Funds.
