Agreement Between the City of Hawthorne and the City of Gardena For Supplemental Law Enforcement (Medical Director) Services.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends the City Council approve and ratify the City Manager’s execution of the Agreement Between the City of Hawthorne and the City of Gardena for supplemental law enforcement (Medical Director) services.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Hawthorne's Police Department requests approval to continue providing Medical Director Services to the City of Gardena's Police Department. The Hawthorne Police Department's Medical Director will oversee CPR, First Aid, AED, Narcan, and Tactical Medicine training for the Gardena Police Department.
The initial agreement between the City of Hawthorne and the City of Gardena for Supplemental Law Enforcement (Medical Director) Services was executed on February 1, 2021. Hawthorne has been providing these supplemental medical services to the Gardena Police Department for over four years.
The Hawthorne Medical Director will continue to uphold standard policies and procedures to ensure optimal first responder medical care for the Gardena community. This includes providing education, training, and overseeing quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
Both police departments have agreed on an annual cost of $25,000 for the proposed services.
