A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAWTHORNE CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING AUTHORIZED AGENTS TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON THE BEHALF OF THE CITY OF HAWTHORNE FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) AND THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES (CALOES) FOR RECOVERING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH DECLARED EMERGENCIES.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAWTHORNE CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING AUTHORIZED AGENTS TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON THE BEHALF OF THE CITY OF HAWTHORNE FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) AND THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES (CALOES) FOR RECOVERING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH DECLARED EMERGENCIES.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff Recommends that the City Council Adopt Resolution No. 8501.
DISCUSSION:
Staff is recommending adoption of Resolution 8501, which approves and authorizes submittal of Cal OES Form 130 designating personnel to act as the agent for the City when seeking financial assistance after a disaster.
California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) Form 130 authorizes the positions listed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Hawthorne for the purpose of obtaining certain Federal Financial Assistance under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. (P.L. 930288, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq., and Related Authorities as of April 2013, and /or State financial assistance under the California Disaster Assistance Act [CDAA]) The form is required for costs recovery.
The positions designated on the Cal OES Form 130 are the City Manager, Police Chief, Acting Public Works Director, and Legal Risk Specialist. Approval of Resolution 8501 allows submittal of Cal OES Form 130, which will remain valid for three (3) years.
