AGENDA ITEM NO. 8.
CITY OF HAWTHORNE City Council AGENDA BILL For the meeting of 10/27/2026 Originating Department: City Manager |
City Manager:
Department Head:
SUBJECT:
Consideration of Cancellation of the November 24 and December 22, 2026, Regular City Council Meetings Due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the cancellation of the regular City Council meetings scheduled for November 24, 2026, and December 22, 2026, due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, respectively, and declare those meeting dates dark.
DISCUSSION:
As the end of the 2026 calendar year approaches, the City Manager has reviewed the remaining City Council meeting schedule. The City traditionally cancels its regular City Council meetings during Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks to accommodate the holiday season.
The City Council currently has five meetings remaining on the 2026 calendar. Cancellation of the November 24 and December 22 meetings would reduce the year's remaining meetings to three: October 27, November 10, and December 8, 2026.
Approval of the proposed cancellations would maintain the City's customary holiday schedule while providing staff and Council members with an opportunity to plan accordingly for the remainder of the year.
The revised meeting schedule would be as follows:
