Resolution No. 8514 – A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Hawthorne, California Approving an Agreement  for Electric Vehicle Charging Station Design and Installation Project with Chargie
 

RECOMMENDED MOTION:

Staff recommends that the City Council approve Resolution No.8514
 

DISCUSSION:

The City’s Public Works staff solicited proposals for the design and installation of EV chargers at multiple city facilities. The scope of services includes design, preparation of plans and specifications, panel upgrades, and EV charger installation. Two proposals were received and thoroughly evaluated. Following a comprehensive review, Chargie emerged as the most qualified proposer based on their quality of work, competitive pricing, and extensive professional experience. Chargie has significant expertise in securing Southern California Edison (SCE) funding, is an approved network provider, has successfully installed over 18,000 EV chargers for various government agencies, and offers 24/7 direct customer support.

  • Hawthorne Memorial Senior Center: 3851 W El Segundo Blvd.
  • Jim Thorpe Park: W/S Cordary S/O 139th St.
  • Holly Glen Park: 5302 W. 136th St.
  • Holly Park: 2058 ½ W 120th St.
  • Hawthorne Police Department: 12501 Hawthorne Blvd.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN:

This project is a result of the City working closely with funding and regulatory agencies to support and improve our infrastructure.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

None. The estimated funds of $685,000 are available in the adopted fiscal year 2024-2025 budget and will be funded with SCE Charge Ready Program, SCE Small site rebate Program, and non gas tax funds.
