Resolution No. 8515 - A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Hawthorne, California Approving the Social Security Administration Office of Acquisition and Grants Contract Number 2832325C00060002.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 8515, Approving the Social Security Administration ("SSA") Contract Number 2832325C0006002 and Authorize the Chief of Police of the Hawthorne Police Department ("HPD") to Execute the Contract.
DISCUSSION:
The subject agreement with the "SSA" would call for the placement of two "HPD" detectives to the "SSA" Task Force for law enforcement assignments. The "SSA" would reimburse the City for the cost of the two "HPD" detectives. The "SSA" would cover the reimbursement up to a cap of $2,891,174.20.
"SSA" contracts with local law enforcement agencies for various investigations. In Los Angeles County, the "SSA" had primarily contractually hired investigators from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. This year, the "SSA" has expanded it's request to include additional law enforcement agencies, including the "HPD."
