Donation of Police Department Vehicle Unit #613 to the El Camino Police Department.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Authorize the Public Works Department to donate unit #613 to the El Camino College Police Department.
DISCUSSION:
Unit #613 has been utilized by our Police Department as an enforcement vehicle. This unit was recently retired and has been replaced with a forensics expedition. Our Police Department has been in contact with the El Camino College Police Department, and they expressed their need for such a vehicle to be used for on-campus patrol purposes.
El Camino College Police Department has assisted our Police Department in the past at various levels. As part of our ongoing commitment to working closely with our neighboring police agencies, we support the donation of a Hawthorne Police Ford Crown Victoria to the El Camino College Police Department. El Camino College has assisted in the support of Hawthorne ITS services and equipment, along with the use of their mobile surveillance camera trailer.
