Approval of an Agreement Between the Hawthorne Police Department and the Hawthorne School District for the provision of a "School Resource Officer" (SRO).
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends the City Council approve and authorize the Chief of Police to execute the Agreement between the Hawthorne Police Department and the Hawthorne School District for the provision of a "School Resource Officer" (SRO).
DISCUSSION:
The Hawthorne Police Department has a long and well-established relationship with the Hawthorne School District. The Hawthorne Police Department has been providing a School Resource Officer (SRO) to the Hawthorne School District for over five years. The Hawthorne Police Department would like to continue providing School Resource Officer (SRO) services to the Hawthorne School District for the upcoming school year. The Hawthorne Police Department and the Hawthorne School District have agreed upon an annual cost of $174,000 for one (1) year for the proposed service requested.
