Additional Funding Request for Administration Receivership Account in the Amount of $30,000 for the Past Fiscal Year 2024/2025.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff Recommends that the City Council Approve the Additional Funding in the Amount of $30,000 to Administration Receivership Account (Receivership Account No. 100-1501-000-40744) for fiscal year 2024/2025, Encumber for the Same and Approve the Increase of Blanket Purchase Order for Civica Law Group to Reflect the Increase.
DISCUSSION:
The months of June, July and August have been very busy with the City's lawsuit against the owners of the Hawthorne Mall. It resulted in the City Attorney's budget for Receivership account $30,000 short at the end of the last fiscal year. As seen with other Nuisance Abatement/Receivership actions, these costs to the City is recoverable at the end of the case.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN:
The nuisance abatement lawsuit over the Hawthorne Plaza has a direct impact on the city's economic future.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$30,000 from General Fund but will be a part of the litigation cost to be recouped through a court order.
NOTICING PROCEDURE:
72 hours posted notice pursuant to the Ralph M. Brown Act.
