First Amendment to the consultant agreement between Chargie, LLC and the City of Hawthorne for Electric Vehicle Charging Station Design and Installation Services.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the amendment and authorize the Director of Public Works to enter into the first amendment with Chargie, LLC.
DISCUSSION:
In March 2025, the City entered into an Agreement with Chargie, LLC for the design and installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at multiple city-owned facilities. Installation work is underway and includes electrical upgrades, charger installations, and network setup.
As part of this program, the City must now execute Maintenance and Charging Services Agreements with Chargie to ensure long-term operation, monitoring, and customer support for the installed EV chargers. These agreements cover a five-year term, during which Chargie will provide:

- Ongoing monitoring and management of all charging stations.
- Real-time network oversight and proactive repairs.
- Access to an online portal for station performance and usage.
- Parts and labor coverage for equipment defects.
- Service response times within one business day and onsite repairs within three business days when required.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN:
This project supports the City’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure, expanding access to sustainable transportation, and aligning with regional and state-level clean energy initiatives.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None. The estimated costs are included in the previously approved budget for FY 2025–2026 and are supported by the Southern California Edison Charge Ready Program, SCE rebate programs, and non-gas tax funds.
