Public Hearing of the draft Regional Assessment of Fair Housing Plan

 Interested parties are invited to participate and make comments on the draft Regional Assessment of Fair Housing Plan.  The Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH) is a legal requirement that both the County and the collaborative program participants must complete in order to continue receiving federal housing and community development funding from the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Specifically, the AFH is an analysis undertaken pursuant to 24 CFR Part 5.154 that includes an analysis of fair housing data, an assessment of fair housing issues and contributing factors, and an identification of fair housing priorities and goals specific to Hidalgo County. 
 
A draft copy of the AFH is available for public review on the Hidalgo County official website at https://tx-hidalgocounty.civicplus.com/ as well as at the local city halls, precincts and public libraries.  Comments will be accepted until September 19, 2017. It is the intent of County and its collaborative program participants to submit the regional AFH Plan to HUD on or before October 4, 2017.
 
Collaboration Program Participants: Hidalgo County Urban County Program, the Cities of Edinburg, Mission, McAllen and Pharr as well as the Housing Authority of the County of Hidalgo and the Cities of Alamo, Donna, Edinburg, Edcouch, Elsa, Hidalgo, La Joya, McAllen, Mercedes, Mission, Pharr, San Juan and Weslaco.
