1. Requesting approval of the Hidalgo County’s Regional Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH) Plan contingent upon comments received.

The Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH) is a legal requirement that both the County and the collaborative program participants must complete in order to continue receiving federal housing and community development funding from the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Specifically, the AFH is an analysis undertaken pursuant to 24 CFR Part 5.154 that includes an analysis of fair housing data, an assessment of fair housing issues and contributing factors, and an identification of fair housing priorities and goals specific to Hidalgo County. 
 
A draft copy of the AFH has been available for public review on the Hidalgo County official website at https://tx-hidalgocounty.civicplus.com/ since Saturday, August 19, 2017.  Comments are being accepted through September 19, 2017. Written comments or questions may be submitted to Hidalgo County Urban County Program (UCP) Director’s Office at 427 E. It is the intent of County and its collaborative program participants to submit the regional AFH Plan to HUD on or before October 4, 2017.
 
Collaboration Program Participants: Hidalgo County Urban County Program, the Cities of Edinburg, Mission, McAllen and Pharr as well as the Housing Authority of the County of Hidalgo and the Cities of Alamo, Donna, Edinburg, Edcouch, Elsa, Hidalgo, La Joya, McAllen, Mercedes, Mission, Pharr, San Juan and Weslaco.
