Pursuant to Texas Local Government Code, 263.151 (1), HC-District Clerk's office is requesting approval to declare as "Salvage Property" [unusable] and sell as "Scrap Metal" including removing the items listed in Exhibit A from District Clerk's inventory list. 

BACKGROUND

1.  This filing system is 25+ years old;
2.  The filing system is fully depreciated;
3.  System was offered to other large county departments, but the dismantling, moving and re-assembly would be cost prohibitive;
4.  Hidalgo County currently does not have a term contract for the purchase of scrap metal.  No requests for packets were ever received.  The market conditions causing this inability to secure a contract [circa. 2012] still exist;
5.  Thus our current protocol is to solicit at least three (2) quotes and award to the highest bidder offering a per ton price.
6.  Both Facilities Management and HC Precinct #4 will assist in dismantling and transporting to awarded vendor.
