DA's Office - Border Prosecution Unit Grant (1281):
1. Requesting approval to apply for the FY 2019-2020 Border Prosecution Unit Grant.
2. Requesting approval of resolution to designate County Judge as the grantee's authorized official and to sign documents.

BACKGROUND

This grant funds 100% of the salaries, fringes and expenses for 3 prosecutor positions, 1 investigator position and 1 legal assistant position. One of the prosecutors is titled as the Regional Counsel; a second prosecutor is titled as the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Counsel for BPU. The Regional and TAG Counsel have the responsibility of assisting law enforcement and local prosecutor's office throughout Texas.

The prosecutor and investigator assists local Hidalgo County law enforcement agencies with criminal cases.

The Legal Assistant supports the prosecutor and investigator.
