The Urban County Program is requesting the award of bids and approval of contracts for the demolition and reconstruction of the following: 

1. (3) units in the Countywide area in the amount of $131,358.00 to Rolando's General Construction.

2. (1) unit in the Countywide area in the amount of $47,183.25 to R & R General Contractors.

3. (1) unit in the City of Mercedes and (1) unit in the City of Donna in the amount of $77,880.00 to J.D. Villarreal Construction.

BACKGROUND

These families were approved to receive assistance under the HOME-Homeowner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program by the County Commissioners' Court on October 15, 23 and November 13, 2007.  Bids were received and opened at the Hidalgo County Purchasing Department on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 for the reconstruction including demolition of four (4) existing structures in the Countywide area, one (1) in the City of Mercedes, and one (1) in the City of Donna.  A review and tabulation of bids revealed that the following contractors were the lowest* bidders for the Countywide projects in the amount of $131,358.00 to Rolando's General Construction, $47,183.25 to R & R General Contractors and $77,880.00 to J.D. Villarreal Construction for the City of Mercedes and the City of Donna.
