BACKGROUND
The purpose of the grant application is to request grant funds from the Texas Department of Transportation through the STEP-Operation Slowdown Grant to provide overtime & fringes funding for deputies to work this operation. Total amount of grant funds request is $4,000.00. Grant requires a cash match of $1,000.00 (20%). The purpose of the Operation Slowdown grant is to increase effective enforcement and adjudication of traffic safety laws and to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes as well as to enhance public information and education efforts during the Enforcement period within the Pct. 4 jurisdiction.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:
No budgetary impact; approval to apply. Grant requires a cash match of $1,000.00 (20%). Constable Pct. 4 office has agreed to provide the cash match via their G/F departmental budget (as per Deputy Chris Barrera). Grant funding is used to pay for overtime and fringes for Const Pct. 4 law enforcement personnel assigned to Operation Slowdown. FY 2022 grant period is from 6-7-2022 to 6-21-2022 (11 net working days).New account numbers will be created by the Auditor's Office once grant is awarded by grantor, accepted by CC, budget is established, and revenues are certified by the Co. Auditor.
